Thank you for visiting my website!
After five years in broadcast news, I've transitioned into public relations and strategic communications. I'm currently a communications specialist for the University of Utah's Department of Marketing and Communications. I'm enjoying learning about the higher education world while continuing to sharpen my digital storytelling skills.
When I first moved to Salt Lake City in August of 2018, I joined Avalaunch Media as a copywriter for eight months. It was a great opportunity to explore digital marketing and understand the role great content plays in in concepts such as SEO.
Prior to that, I spent three years in Albuquerque, New Mexico working for KOB4. As a morning reporter there, I was lucky enough to tell the uplifting, inspirational stories of hard-working New Mexicans, and help keep them safe with breaking news and traffic updates during their morning commutes.
I started at KOB as a morning show producer. After about a year and a half I transitioned to reporting for the fast-paced, 2 1/2 hour show. Before that, I was a producer/anchor at KLEW in Lewiston, Idaho. Since it was a small market, I was able to gain expertise in multiple positions throughout the newsroom to become proficient in editing, shooting, and reporting.
I grew up in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho and graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder (Go Buffs!). There I received a B.S. in Broadcast News. While at CU, I reported and anchored for Boulder's only newscast, Newsteam Boulder.
I am most interested in using digital storytelling and mass communication to encourage community members to take control of their health and wellness, as well as promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion.
In order to interact with viewers and feel more connected to the communities I reported on, I regularly posted updates on social media. I primarily promoted KOB content as well as responded to any questions/comments my followers may have had.
Whenever possible, I prefer getting to know community members in person. I enjoy speaking to college classes about the ever-changing field of journalism and mass communication, and volunteering as a Master of Ceremonies for various organizations and nonprofits.
In addition to public relations, communications, and journalism, I am passionate about skiing, hiking, triathlons and country music!
